Aim:
To equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to enable them to promote the sexual health of young people as part of their work.
Objectives:
By the end of the course participants will:
- have a holistic understanding of sexual health
- have learned important factual information relating to young people’s sexual health (e.g. facts around contraception, sexually transmitted infections and HIV)
- have explored attitudes to sex and sexuality
- have considered different ways of giving information about safer sex
- have examined the legal issues surrounding young people’s sexual health
- have considered how gender issues may influence approaches to promoting young people’s sexual health
- have considered how sexuality issues may influence approaches to promoting young people’s sexual health
- be aware of local sexual health services appropriate for young people
Course Duration:
This is a two day course
About the course:
The course will be informal and participatory in nature. It will involve exercises and group work in pairs and small groups as well as in the whole group. Group members will be asked to take part in discussions around the issues raised by exercises. The course will draw upon the experiences of the participants.
