Aim:
To increase participants’ understanding of the importance of high self esteem, the factors which affect it and how to influence them.
Objectives:
By the end of the course participants will:
- understand the concept of self esteem
- have considered some of the negative effects of low self esteem on themselves and those around them
- have considered the positive effects of high self esteem for themselves and those around them
- have examined the ‘cycle of self esteem’
- recognise some of the factors which contribute, either positively or negatively, to their self esteem
- have learned some of the ways in which they can develop their self esteem
Course Duration:
This can be a one or two day course
About the course:
The course will be informal and participatory in nature. It will involve exercises and group work in pairs and small groups as well as in the whole group. Group members will be asked to take part in discussions around the issues raised by exercises. The course will draw upon the experiences of the participants.
