Aim:
To equip staff with new skills to improve open communication in the workplace.
Objectives:
By the end of the course participants will:
- have examined what feedback is and what feedback is not
- have considered the potential benefits of both giving and receiving constructive feedback at work
- understand the difference between affirmative feedback and developmental feedback
- be aware of the potential pitfalls in giving and receiving feedback
- have identified the key principles when giving constructive feedback to colleagues
- have practised techniques for giving feedback to colleagues
- have explored their own feelings when receiving feedback and strategies for coping with their feelings

This is a one day course
About the course:
The course will be informal and participatory in nature. It will involve exercises and group work in pairs and small groups as well as in the whole group. Group members will be asked to take part in discussions around the issues raised by exercises. The course will draw upon the experiences of the participants and will involve practising open communication skills.
