Aim:
To understand more about what stress is, where it comes from and how to manage it.
Objectives:
By the end of the course participants will:
- understand what is meant by the term ‘stress’
- have examined the difference between constructive and destructive stress
- know how to recognise the signs and symptoms of stress in themselves and others
- have identified some of the reasons why people may be reluctant to admit to stress
- have examined common themes in terms of the causes of stress
- have identified their own individual causes of stress
- take away strategies for preventing their own stress
- take away some strategies for managing their stress once it occurs

This is a one day course
About the course:
The course will be informal and participatory in nature. It will involve exercises and group work in pairs and small groups as well as in the whole group. Group members will be asked to take part in discussions around the issues raised by exercises. The course will draw upon the experiences of the participants. There will be a short relaxation session at the end of the course.
