Aim:
To provide delegates with some of the skills necessary for facilitating workshops, meetings, small groups or training sessions at work.
Objectives:
By the end of the course participants will:
- understand the meaning of facilitation
- have identified work situations in which facilitation could usefully be applied
- have learned about the range of participatory methods which may be used in a facilitated session
- understand the kind of skills and qualities which an effective facilitator needs to demonstrate
- be aware of how group processes and dynamics can affect the facilitated session
- have considered how best to deal with difficult behaviour from group members
- be equipped with the necessary skills to deliver the training course
- have practised facilitating a short session and received constructive feedback from the rest of the group

This is a one day course
About the Course:
The course will be informal and participatory in nature. It will involve exercises and group work in pairs and small groups as well as in the whole group. Group members will be asked to take part in discussions around the issues raised by exercises. The course will draw upon the experiences of the participants and will involve practising facilitation skills.
