Aim:
To develop participants' understanding and confidence in relation to equality and diversity.
Objectives:
By the end of the course participants will:
- understand what is meant by the terms ‘equality' and 'diversity’
- know why promoting equality in the workplace is important
- have identified some of the barriers to equality such as stereotyping
- have examined the key legislation which underpins workplace E & D policy
- understand the meaning of the terms harassment, bullying and discrimination
- have considered the role of language in equality
- take away an individual action plan which will enhance equality and diversity at work
Course Duration:
This is a one day course
About the course:
The course will be informal and participatory in nature. It will involve exercises and group work in pairs and small groups as well as in the whole group. Group members will be asked to take part in discussions around the issues raised by exercises. The course will draw upon the experiences of the participants.
