Aim:
To increase the understanding of the issues involved in working with lesbians, gay men and bisexual people.
Objectives:
By the end of the course, the participants will:
- have explored some of the myths and stereotypes surrounding lesbians, gay men and bisexual people
- have considered the language used when talking about lesbians, gay men and bisexual people
- have identified appropriate language
- understand what homophobia is and how it affects people
- have identified ways to reduce some of the barriers to lesbians, gay men and bisexual people accessing the services you offer
- have identified local services and resources appropriate for use in work with lesbians, gay men and bisexual people
- feel more confident when working with lesbians, gay men and bisexual people

This is a two day course
About the course:
The course will be informal and participatory in nature. It will involve exercises and group work in pairs and small groups as well as in the whole group. Group members will be asked to take part in discussions around the issues raised by exercises. The course will draw upon the experiences of the participants.
